Juventus remain optimistic that a new contract can be agreed with Alessandro Del Piero as the end of his current deal grows ever closer.

The veteran striker has stated time and again his wish to remain with the Old Lady and is keen to score in Juventus’ new stadium which will be up and running next season.

Asked about Del Piero before the match with Lecce at the weekend, general manager Beppe Marotta was sounding a positive note.

"Del Piero? The door for his renewal remains open, we must find an agreement about the amount, but I am optimistic."

Should the Juventus legend stay for another season then it would surely be a big boost for the Old Lady, although on current form a return to Champions League football looks unlikely – Juventus lost 2-0 away to Lecce, keeping them sixth.
