Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier was in the stands to watch former club Lyon draw 1-1 with Real Madrid in the Champions League last night.
Whether the visit was personal, or whether Houllier was scouting one of the players on show, is not known, but the Frenchman is believed to be well under way with his transfer target planning for next season.
Villa raided Lyon in the January transfer window when they snapped up midfielder Jean Makoun and a return visit to a club Houllier knows well, for further talent, cannot be ruled out.
Equally there are sure to be departures from Real Madrid in the summer, and Villa have been linked with a shock swoop for striker Karim Benzema in the past.
