Liverpool’s Slovak defender Martin Skrtel has reiterated his belief that he can win trophies with the Premier League club. Liverpool have had a difficult campaign, slumping down the table under Roy Hodgson, before a revival or sorts with current boss Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool face Sparta Prague tonight in the second leg of their Europa League Round of 32 tie, which is delicately balanced at 0-0.

"If I didn’t believe I would win trophies I wouldn’t play football", Skrtel told the club’s official website. "I am happy here. I signed a contract for the next four years and I believe I in this period I will win something with Liverpool."

And Skrtel thinks the Europa League offers a great opportunity to win some silverware this season

"Everyone plays football to win trophies. The Europa League for us is a great opportunity to do that and it could save our season."
