Reports that Manchester City could move for Jose Mourinho at the end of the season have been rubbished by the Spanish press.

Rumours surfaced over the weekend that suggested the Eastlands club could offer €12M to Real Madrid to install Mourinho in the City hotseat before the start of the 2011/12 campaign.

However, the Portuguese boss is under contract with Los Blancos until 2014 and, although there is believed to be a break clause within the deal, it is thought to be some €40M.

Such an amount would surely make City think twice before approaching Real Madrid for permission to speak to Mourinho, while the former Chelsea boss is believed to have his eye on a potential opening at Old Trafford for his eventual return to English football, when Sir Alex Ferguson finally retires at Manchester United.
