Roma's French defender Philippe Mexes has revealed that he wants to still be playing his football in Italy when the 2011/12 campaign kicks off.

Mexes is out of contract with the Giallorossi at the end of the current season and his wage demands make it unlikely that he will sign a new deal at the Stadio Olimpico.

But the 29-year-old still wants to remain in Italy.

"I want to stay in Serie A as long as possible", said Mexes to Canal+

"Here I am well. I know how the championship works and I don't want to move."

Mexes' comments would appear to put AC Milan at the front of the queue for the player, although there are other interested parties.
