Tottenham Hotspur are battling with Stuttgart, Freiburg and Marseille for the signature of young Portuguese midfielder Fabio Lopes.
The 18-year-old is currently with Real Betis, and Spurs are a late entry into the race according to A Bola.
Initially beginning his career with Estoril, Lopes then moved on to Sporting Lisbon’s famed youth academy, staying for four years before joining Benfica in 2007. Last year though, Lopes decided a move to Spain and Real Betis would be the right step to push his professional career onwards and upwards.
"There have been comments and discussions with Olympique Marseille, Stuttgart and Freiburg", confirmed the player’s agent and father Adolfo Lopes.
"Fabio has done a good job and it is therefore normal that he is a target for several clubs, but for now he remains focused on Betis. He wants to win the championship with his youth team."
An attacking midfielder with good vision and excellent close control, Lopes was identified as a possible star of the future for Portugal and has not been afraid to switch teams if he feels it will benefit his development.
