Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has warned his team-mates they must be ready for their trip to Anfield to play Liverpool tonight and learn from the lesson of missing out on a Champions League spot to Tottenham Hotspur last season.
Given Chelsea’s win over Wigan at the weekend, combined with Spurs’ three points against Stoke, City have dropped to fourth and sit just three points ahead of Harry Redknapp’s side. Defeat at Anfield would leave the Eastlands club open to being overhauled at the business-end of the season.
Barry did admit however that it was hard for the club to put next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United out of their minds.
"It’s hard to forget about the United match", said Barry to City’s official site. "But this league game has to be our focus first. It’s important we learn from losing out to Tottenham last year."
