Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano will not leave Barcelona despite a distinct lack of first team action according to his agent.
The former Liverpool man has been linked with Chelsea – who tried and failed to persuade him to head to London in January – and Juventus, while several other sides are also watching proceedings closely.
But Mascherano is not about to turn tail and head away from the Camp Nou just yet and hopes to remain at Barcelona next season.
"He will not leave Barca", said Horacio Zandonadi to Catalan daily Sport.
"Stop the jokes. Mascherano plays at Barca, that is the best club in the world."
Mascherano has made just 14 starts in La Liga this season and struggled to cement a spot in Josep Guardiola’s starting eleven. The Argentine will hope to have more luck in the 2011/12 campaign.
