Inter are lining up a summer raid on Tottenham Hotspur for their Croatian schemer Luka Modric.

The Nerazzurri have been impressed with Spurs’ performances in the Champions League this season and have run the rule over a number of players from the White Hart Lane outfit.

And, as well as Gareth Bale, Inter have been most impressed with Modric and believe he could slot into life in Serie A with ease.

Reports from Italy indicate that Inter technical director Marco Branca has begun to intensify his efforts to prise Modric away from Spurs, with the Nerazzurri sure the Croatian will not wish to miss out on Champions League football next season having had a taster in the current campaign.

Therefore, Spurs look likely to have to finish in the top four to firmly see off Inter’s interest, a task which looks a tough one at present with Manchester City sitting three points ahead of Harry Redknapp’s side.

This, combined with fixtures to come against Arsenal (home), Chelsea (away), Man City (away) and Liverpool (away), amongst the club’s last seven games, highlights the difficulty of ensuring a top four finish.
