Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has declared the club’s Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid a 50-50 affair. The Catalans travel to the Bernabeu on Wednesday night for the first leg of a tie which looks set to define the seasons of both sides.

With Barcelona coasting to another La Liga crown and Real Madrid having won the Copa del Rey, the Champions League now looks set to provide the definitive battlefield for this campaign.

"It’s a tie that is 50% [for both] because it is a two-legged match", said Busquets.

And despite losing to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, Busquets believes that if Barcelona can reproduce their performance in the second part of that game then they will not be far off, although he did admit Real Madrid are nightmare opponents.

"Real Madrid is the worst opponent we could play now. We know that and have had tight matches with them.

"We must play our football and implement our philosophy. We have to play like the second period in the Mestalla, where we deserved more."
