Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt believes that the Reds can mount a challenge for the Premier League title next season. The Anfield side have fallen well short in this campaign due to six months of poor form under previous boss Roy Hodgson, form which will ensure they miss out on Champions League football next season.
But Kuyt believes next season could still be one to cherish anyway and he senses a feel-good factor flowing around the club, building expectation for next season and a possible title challenge.
"The feeling is a bit the same", said Kuyt to the club’s official site, looking back to 2009 when the club finished second and believed they could go on and win the Premier League the next season.
"When we were really close in 2009 and finished second I had the same feeling, a matter of a few good signings and we will be right up there.
"I think this is exactly the case at the moment. With the arrival of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll we have two top quality players, but also with the young lads who are doing very well things are looking much more promising, and if we can add a few other good players then we can compete with the best next season."
