Didier Deschamps has denied reports that he is close to signing an agreement to become the new coach of Roma.
The Frenchman has been linked with the Giallorossi, with some sections of the Italian press claiming a deal for the 42-year-old is done and dusted.
However, the president of Deschamps’ current club Marseille, has rubbished the reports, explaining that when he spoke to Deschamps the midfielder played down a move to Roma.
"All they are is rubbish", said Jean-Claude Dassier to L’Equipe.
"I had lunch this afternoon with Didier and he is still 10 yards away. When I told him about them, he replied ‘Really?’. He was not even aware."
But Dassier believes it is impossible to stop rogue reports about his in-demand manager.
"I cannot stop an Italian journalist who seeks to make the headlines from saying anything."
