Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon has emerged as a transfer target for new Juventus coach Antonio Conte.
The Italian is keen to strengthen Juventus’ flanks and had originally asked the Bianconeri to pursue Gareth Bale, Franck Ribery and Theo Walcott. However, there is an acceptance in Turin that bringing any of that trio to Juventus could prove mission impossible and Conte has lately slipped Lennon’s name into the conversation.
There are set to be big changes at Juventus in the summer as the club try to ensure they hand Conte the team he needs to take them back into the Champions League, a competition the Italian giants once again failed to qualify for this season.
Whether Spurs manager Harry Redknapp will be willing to sell Lennon remains to be seen, but with the London club having themselves missed out on the Champions League, a big-money offer from Italy could well be appealing. Redknapp remains keen to sign a striker this summer and has several other reinforcements in mind – transfers he may well have to help fund.
24-year-old Lennon has often been criticised for inconsistent performances this season, but at his best is a devastating weapon down the flank, one Conte believes could tear defences in Serie A apart.
