La Liga side Malaga are preparing to unveil Ruud van Nistelrooy, having captured the Dutchman’s signature.
Manuel Pellegrini’s team are keen to surge up the Spanish league table next season and avoid becoming embroiled in a relegation battle as was their fate last season.
Indeed, it was only in the final weeks of the season that the club, backed by Middle Eastern investors from Qatar, saw off the threat of playing in the second division for 2011/12.
A further spending spree therefore was in order, with Van Nistelrooy key to the club’s plans.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker arrives at Malaga on a free transfer from German club Hamburg.
He will sign a deal worth €6M per season with Pellegrini’s team.
