Chelsea defender David Luiz has revealed that he believes his performance against Manchester United was his best of last season.

The Brazilian stopper moved to Stamford Bridge on the final day of the January transfer window, arriving under cover of Fernando Torres’ £50M move, an event which at once helped to draw attention away from the ex-Benfica man and allow him to concentrate on settling in with less pressure.

And Luiz impressed straight from the off, looking likely to be a defensive rock for Chelsea for years to come. For the player himself, in amongst many fine performances, it was his display against Manchester United which stood out.

"My favourite game was with Manchester United at home, where I scored a goal", said Luiz.

"The victory was very important. It was the beginning of a journey that had many victories, one after another."

The defender also took a moment to praise Chelsea’s fans, believing the support second to none.

"The support has been great, but not only for that game. When you have the support that we do as players at Chelsea, it’s just beautiful."
