Following intense speculation that Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Santos’ wonderkid Neymar, the player’s agent has denied fielding interest from the Spanish side.
Neymar is on the radar of any club that counts in world football, with the Brazil star already blossoming and showing glimpses of the talent which has seen him tipped to stand alongside Lionel Messi as the game’s greatest modern day player.
Interest from Real Madrid, which would come hot on the heels of a bid from Chelsea in January – which was rejected by Santos – would be no surprise.
But Wagner Ribeiro is adamant that he has not been informed of any such approach.
"Real Madrid have not contacted me or Neymar", Ribeiro told Spanish radio station La Cope.
"He is focused only on the Copa Libertadores."
And the youngster’s agent then proceeded to lavish praise on his client, echoing the thoughts of seasoned Neymar observers.
"For me, he’s like Messi and he will soon become the best player in the world.
"He is only 19 years old, but already many clubs want him."
