Atletico Madrid and Schalke have both sent bids to Palermo for goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

Sirigu is expected to leave Sicily this summer after failing to agree terms with Palermo over a new contract at the club.

And the Italian has been attracting interest after a series of fine displays in Serie A last season.

Both Atletico Madrid and Schalke have a number 1 spot to fill after losing David de Gea and Manuel Neuer to Manchester United and Bayern Munich respectively.

24-year-old Sirigu made his breakthrough at senior level for Italy last year and has continued to improve.

Palermo will need to be made a tempting offer to cash in on their shot-stopper however.
