Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala look ready to join the race for Santos midfielder Ganso.

Anzhi have already submitted a bid for Ganso’s club team-mate Neymar, but progress towards snapping up the striker is slow, with Real Madrid in the driving seat as one of several other sides to have met the 19-year-old’s release clause.

Now legendary Brazilian left back Roberto Carlos, who plays for Anzhi, has recommended the club move for Ganso.

The midfielder, who is a target for Serie A giants AC Milan, is prepared to exit Santos, although there remains some confusion over exactly when that will be.

Both Ganso and Neymar are dreaming of taking part in December’s Club World Cup having recently won the Copa Libertadores with Santos, and the prospect of facing Barcelona in a titanic battle to be crowned the best club side in world football, appeals to the duo.

Ganso will cost around €40M, a figure Anzhi, home to stars like Diego Tardelli, Balazs Dzsudzsak, Mbark Boussoufa and Roberto Carlos, would have little trouble meeting.
