Serie A side Fiorentina are planning to barge their way into the race for wantaway Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.

The Danish forward is expected to exit the Emirates Stadium before the transfer window closes at the end of August and a number of clubs are stepping up their pursuit for the 23-year-old.

These include French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.

La Viola though hope that the prospect of playing in Serie A, rather than in France or Germany, will attract Bendtner.

And while the Italian side cannot offer the striker Champions League football as could be found at Dortmund, they can guarantee regular first team football.

For Bendtner this could be crucial as the Danish star has grown disillusioned at life on the bench at Arsenal, feeling he should be a fixture in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven.

Bendtner was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s slender 1-0 victory over Udinese in the first leg of their Champions League Playoff last night, being overlooked for Moroccan Marouane Chamakh.
