Manchester City have agreed a fee with Arsenal for French midfielder Samir Nasri.

The former Marseille schemer agreed personal terms with Roberto Mancini’s side some time ago and will become the highest paid player in French football history.

Nasri trained with Arsenal ahead of their Champions League playoff second leg against Udinese and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger expected the midfielder to travel to Italy with the squad.

But Arsenal have now finalised a fee with City and Nasri is heading north.

“Arsenal can confirm that they have agreed terms for Samir Nasri to move to Manchester City”, read a statement issued by the Gunners.

“The move will be subject to Nasri passing a medical and formal registration processes.”

Arsenal were left with little choice but to cash in on Nasri, as the player refused to extend his current contract, which had just one year left to run.
