Borussia Monchengladbach star Marco Reus has explained that he opted to agree a move to Borussia Dortmund rather than Bayern Munich because he believes the Ruhr giants to be a more attractive prospect than the Bavarians.

Jurgen Klopp’s Bundesliga champions are shelling out €17M to snap up Reus, with the talented attacking midfielder due to join up with his new team in the summer.

Before the player signed for Dortmund however, he was heavily linked with Bayern Munich, and to many in German football, the fact that Reus did not end up at the Allianz Arena was something of a surprise.

For the midfielder himself though, the choice was an easy one.

"Dortmund are simply more attractive than Bayern", Reus told the Badische Zeitung.

"I feel that I can develop better under Klopp.

"Dortmund is no metropolis, but it is the right place for me and my potential."

Reus has spearheaded an unlikely Gladbach title challenge this season and has bagged 13 goals in the German top flight so far.
