Chelsea’s goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon is unsure over whether France number 1 Hugo Lloris could make the grade in the English Premier League.

Lloris is available from Les Gones for the right price this summer and has attracted admiring glances from Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, with the latter’s interest the most persistent and serious, with a €15M bid having been widely mooted.

The 25-year-old is rated as one of Ligue 1’s finest goalkeepers and is keen to test himself in the pressure-cooker atmosphere of the Premier League.

But Lollichon, who coached Chelsea number 1 Petr Cech at Rennes before following him to Stamford Bridge, has his doubts over whether Lloris can flourish across the channel.

"England has the hardest league in the world for goalkeepers. It is obvious", the Frenchman told Canal+.

"Lloris is frail and I do not think his physique allows him to become bigger and stronger.

"The Premier League can help him to complete his skill-set, but honestly, I am sceptical."

Time appears to be running out for Lloris to make the leap to England this summer and it is becoming increasingly likely that the shot-stopper will be remaining at the Stade Gerland for next season.

That will delight Les Gones, with president Jean-Michel Aulas admitting he would love the club’s number 1 to stay.
