Premier League giants Chelsea have announced the signing of Brazilian prodigy Oscar from Internacional for an undisclosed fee, and the player will join the squad after the Olympics.

It was reported on Tuesday that the Blues and Internacional were close to reaching an agreement for the young attacking midfielder after the Brazilian side’s president Giovanni Luigi confirmed that ‘advanced talks’ were taking place between the clubs for the transfer of Oscar.

The 20-year-old Brazilian has consistently been linked with the Champions League winners this summer and after a month of speculation, Chelsea have finally got their man.

Oscar is primarily an attacking midfielder who has the ability to both create and score goals. He is rated highly in Brazil and his quality can be judged by the fact that he broke into the Brazilian national side at the tender age of 20 and has already won six caps.

The young talent started his career at Sao Paulo before moving to the Red Nation in 2010. The attacking midfielder appeared in 36 matches for Internacional and contributed 11 goals in his two years at the club.

Oscar is the Stamford Bridge outfit’s fourth signing in this transfer window. The club have already tied up Marko Marin, Eden Hazard and his younger brother Thorgan Hazard.

Chelsea have not disclosed the transfer fee nor have the club given any details about the length of contract that the player has penned at Stamford Bridge. However, the transfer fee is believed to be around €30M.
