According to French daily Le Progres, French giants Lyon have set Michel Bastos’ representatives a 48-hour deadline to finalise the player’s transfer to a club interested in the winger’s services.

Lyon have been facing major financial issues this summer and have been looking to part ways with some of their players in order to balance their books. It appears that Bastos is one of the candidates that could be offloaded to ease the pressure on the club’s cashflow.

French sources suggest that the 28-year-old is on his way to the United Arab Emirates in order to pen a deal with UAE Pro-League champions Al Ain. Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala however are also still said to be in the running to sign the Brazil international.

Bastos is a skilled individual and can be deployed on both flanks. The player started his career at Feyenoord before moving to Atletico Paranaense in 2003. He then joined Lille in 2006 and after impressing the crowds with his skill and ability, Ligue 1 giants Lyon came calling for him in 2009.

The 28-year-old has since appeared in 79 matches and scored 15 goals for Les Gones.

Even though Bastos has three years remaining on his current contract, it seems that the Lyon management are ready to sell their prized asset to aid the rebuilding of the club’s finances.
