Ligue 2 outfit Monaco are in advanced talks with former Chelsea right-back Jose Bosingwa according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

Bosingwa is a free agent following his release by Chelsea at the end of last season and the 29-year-old has attracted much interest.

The likes of Roma and Lille have held talks with the Portuguese, while even Barcelona pondered adding him to the Camp Nou ranks at one point.

But it is Monaco, backed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev and managed by former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri, who are now favourites for Bosingwa’s signature.

Money is no object at the principality club as Rybolovlev bids to see Monaco back competing at the top of French and European football, and Bosingwa can surely count on a lucrative contract should he agree to play at the Stade Louis II for 2012/13.

The right-back joined Chelsea in 2008 from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

He collected one Champions League, one Premier League and three FA Cups during his stint at Stamford Bridge.
