Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri has denied that the principality club are in talks with Jose Bosingwa.

French daily L’Equipe had reported that the Ligue 2 club were in advanced discussions with the Portuguese full-back over playing his football at the Stade Louis II.

But Ranieri, who has been charged with returning the club to Ligue 1, has denied that.

"Bosingwa? The rumour is unfounded", said the Italian at a press conference yesterday.

Ranieri has much financial backing behind him in his bid to secure the 2004 Champions League finalists to their rightful spot in the French game, but it appears Bosingwa will not be joining his project.

The right-back is a free agent following his release from Chelsea at the end of last season.
