Everton have completed the signing of midfielder Steven Pienaar, returning the South African to the club he left last year.

The 30-year-old moved from Goodison Park to Tottenham Hotspur in the January 2011 transfer window for a fee of £3M; he inked a four-year contract with Spurs.

But at White Hart Lane the former Borussia Dortmund man struggled to cement a spot in the starting eleven and it was little surprise when he headed out on loan one year later, joining old club Everton for the second half of the 2011/12 campaign.

Now the lively midfielder is back at the Toffees permanently after Everton agreed a fee with Spurs for his signature.

Everton have paid Tottenham £4.5M for Pienaar, making the South African a happy man in the process.

"I am happy to be here. It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton", the midfielder told Everton’s official site.

"There was no doubt in my mind that I would be back here. At the end of the season I told the manager how I felt and I am happy now it is all done", he added.
