Galatasaray have emerged as one of the possible destinations for Turkish starlet Nuri Sahin, in direct competition to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

The Turkey midfielder has been strongly linked with a loan move away from Los Blancos after manager Jose Mourinho came to the conclusion that the youngster needs further playing time, which cannot be afforded at the Bernabeu, to mature into a top class player.

Sahin’s name was thrown into the mix during negotiations for Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Luka Modric by Real Madrid officials, but after Spurs told the Spanish champions that they only want cash for the Croatian, the Turk’s name was taken off the bargain.

According to Spanish daily AS, even though Sahin is in Real Madrid’s squad for the side’s pre-season tour of United States, Mourinho has kept hold of the youngster as back-up if the move for Modric falls through.

However, in the most likely scenario of the Croatian landing at the Bernabeau, the 23-year-old will also be on his way soon, heading out of Spain on a loan deal.

It is for this reason that Real Madrid have been in advanced talks with both Galatasaray and Arsenal about Sahin, with the path being paved for the midfielder’s future to be resolved speedily once Modric is snared.

Arsenal remain keen on the 23-year-old, but Galatasaray are hopeful the Turkey international could instead ply his trade at the Turk Telekom Arena next season.

“I hope to see Nuri Sahin at Galatasaray”, the Istanbul club’s general manager Adem Cukur told Sabah Sport.

“The player is very close and the transfer may happen at any moment.

“Fatih Terim wants him in the role of a number 10”, he added, explaining the fate that would await Sahin at the Turkish champions.
