Ajax director of football affairs Marc Overmars has confirmed that there "serious" interest in the club’s forward Miralem Sulejmani.

The Dutch giants want Sulejmani to extend a contract which expires next summer, otherwise they will be open to selling the 23-year-old.

Doing that before the transfer window closes may well not be difficult after Overmars admitted there is already one club who are very interested in snapping up the Serbian.

"It is serious", Overmars told the Algemeen Dagblad, adding "but I cannot name the club.

"In any case, the level of interest in Miralem is serious."

Sulejmani must now quickly make a decision over whether he sees his future at the Amsterdam ArenA or elsewhere.

The forward, who can also operate on the right wing, joined Ajax for €16.5M in 2008 from Heerenveen.

He initially struggled to justify the sky-high fee that had been splurged to bring him to the club, but last season managed eleven goals in 22 Eredivisie matches as Ajax were crowned Dutch champions.
