Inter have confirmed the sale of Brazilian full-back Maicon to Manchester City.

The Nerazzurri are thought to be netting around €5M for the right-back, who had just one year remaining on his contract at the San Siro.

Maicon had been linked with a number of club this summer, including Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. The French side snapped up Gregory van der Wiel however, from Ajax, while Jose Mourinho has kept his power dry in the Spanish capital.

Maicon joined Inter in 2006 from French side Monaco and enjoyed a successful spell in Italy, helping the club to win the 2010 Champions League.

He will hope to repeat the trick under Mancini, a coach he knows from his time in Serie A, as Manchester City aim for European glory.
