Rennes president Frederic de Saint Sernin has stressed that the club’s midfielder Yann M’Vila will not be joining Tottenham Hotspur.
The English Premier League side had been negotiating to sign the defensive midfielder, but De Saint Sernin has revealed their interest in M’Vila ended last night, when no agreement could be found.
Now the 22-year-old looks set to stay with Rennes unless he chooses to go to either a Russian or Ukrainian club.
"He will not go to England", De Saint Sernin told French radio station RMC.
"Tottenham ended their interest in the player yesterday at 19:30", he added.
And M’Vila could now remain at Rennes, despite the club having already signed a replacement in Jean Makoun, unless he heads to Eastern Europe.
"He is 95% staying at Rennes, unless a Russian or Ukrainian club makes a proposal."
It would be a big surprise if M’Vila were still at the Ligue 1 club for the entire 2012/13 season, having been linked with some of the most prestigious clubs in Europe.
