Young Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez has officially put pen to paper with Manchester United and declared himself to be delighted.

Just 18 years old, Henriquez has arrived at Old Trafford from Chilean giants Universidad de Chile and has instantly been tipped for big things.

Ferguson had followed the forward’s progress for some time, even having taken a closer look at his skills when he visited England.

In Chile, Henriquez had started to make a real impact, leading other clubs to become interested in his qualities, including Manchester City – another factor which forced the Red Devils to act quickly.

And Henriquez is glad the English giants did.

"I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. Manchester United is a great team and has a great manager", the striker told his new club’s official site.

"To be able to be part of that is a huge honour and I can’t wait to get started. I hope I can be part of many successful years with United."

It remains to be seen just how much playing time Henriquez will receive at Old Trafford this season, but a loan spell, in order to adapt to English football, could be on the cards.

Henriquez has made 17 appearances in professional football, scoring eleven times.
