Florent Sinama Pongolle has ended his free transfer status by penning a deal with Russian outfit FC Rostov.
The 27-year-old, who can play on the flank or up front, has signed a two-year contract with the Russian Premier League side.
Pongolle, who started his senior professional career at English giants Liverpool, was a free agent following his release by Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
The Frenchman had headed from Liverpool to Spanish team Recreativo in 2006, before joining Atletico Madrid two years later.
From there, Pongolle signed for Sporting Lisbon, being loaned out for the last two seasons to Real Zaragoza and then Saint-Etienne.
Tipped as one of the hottest talents in world football in his youth, Sinama Pongolle will now aim to relaunch his career with Rostov in Russia.
The southern Russian side finished 13th in the country’s top flight last season.
