David Beckham could be ready to ride to the rescue of La Liga side Malaga, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Malaga have suffered serious financial difficulties this summer after Middle Eastern owner Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani turned off the money taps.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men were then forced to sell a number of stars, notably cashing in on striker Salomon Rondon and winger Santi Cazorla.

The club have ensured a welcome influx of funds by successfully qualifying for the Champions League group stage, but Al-Thani is still ready to sell.

And now Beckham is believed to be interested in acquiring a 75% stake in Malaga, along with former United States international defender Alexi Lalas.

Beckham has fond memories of La Liga from his spell with Real Madrid and could relish becoming involved in the running of a club in the Spanish top flight.

At 37 years old, the midfielder is undoubtedly in the twilight of his career. He is currently turning out for MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.
