David Luiz has put pen to paper on a new five-year contract with Chelsea.

The Brazilian centre back, who was an important man in the Blues’ Champions League win last season, has signalled his commitment to the Stamford Bridge cause and in so doing ended speculation over a move elsewhere.

"It is a great club and I look forward to winning more trophies here. I want to play for a long time at the top level – which is what playing for Chelsea means", added the Brazil star.

"I love everything about the club and especially the fans, who have made me very welcome and given me great support."

Luiz joined Chelsea in the January 2011 transfer window, signing from Portuguese giants Benfica for €25M.

The 25-year-old made 20 appearances in the Premier League last season and clocked up eleven games in the Champions League.
