French midfielder Paul Pogba, who swapped Manchester United for Juventus this summer, is targeting being grouped in the top five young players in world football by the end of this season.

Pogba had been offered the chance to remain at Old Trafford by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, but decided that his development would be better served in Turin at Italian champions Juventus.

relatedNewsStory The Bianconeri were only too happy to welcome the 19-year-old, who signed when his Red Devils contract expired, penning a four-year contract.

The midfielder has made two appearances in Serie A for Juventus so far this season, one of those off the bench.

And despite the campaign only really just beginning, his ambitions remain sky high and he has set targets to help him on his way to fulfilling them.

"If you want to be the best then you have to play with the best at the best clubs", the former Manchester United man told French radio station RMC.

"My goal is to play 25 games this year and be in the top five young players in the world", he continued.

"With the France national team, you have to go step by step.

"My goal is to be at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil."

Pogba spent two years in Le Havre’s famous youth academy before joining Manchester United in 2009. He has represented France at Under-16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 level.

He will aim to make a big splash in Serie A this season.
