Chelsea star Marko Marin is relishing the club’s weekend Premier League clash against Arsenal.
Marin, who joined the Blues from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen in the summer, was a second half substitute in Chelsea’s 6-0 League Cup crushing of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday. And he does not underestimate Arsenal’s strength in comparison, but is optimistic about his side’s chances.
relatedNewsStory Chelsea currently top the Premier League table and one reason for Marin’s confidence is the amount of goals in the team.
“Last year to this year we changed a lot, now we have more creative and offensive players and I hope we can help [bring] success like last year”, Marin told Chelsea’s official site.
“We hope there are lots of goals in this team, because then it is harder for teams to play against us, when not only one or two players can make the difference.”
Marin is not underestimating Arsenal however, despite the Gunners losing goal threat Robin van Persie to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
“Arsenal have a good team of course, but they lost Robin van Persie, who was the best scorer last year, and are at the top again, so it is interesting to see how they do.”
Chelsea are sure to be well aware that Arsenal are potential competitors for the Premier League title and victory at the Emirates Stadium would be a considerable scalp.
Both teams come into the fixture having scored nine league goals and conceded just two.
Last season the fixture between the two ended 0-0; the earlier match at Stamford Bridge had seen a remarkable 5-3 win for the Gunners.
