Hamburg striker Son Heung-Min has responded to speculation that he is a transfer target for English Premier League giants Liverpool by insisting he is happy in Germany, while the Bundesliga outfit are preparing to extend his contract.
The 20-year-old South Korea international joined Hamburg in 2008, dropping out of South Korean football school Dongbuk. He landed in Germany aged just 16, but quickly set about settling into life in his new country and continuing his development.
relatedNewsStory In 2010, on his 18th birthday, Son penned his first professional contract with Hamburg; he has since signed a new deal with the club running until 2014 and has made a huge splash this season.
However, given Son’s rapid rate of improvement and the increased attention being paid to him by a number of other sides, Hamburg are ready to offer the Korean yet another new deal.
And Hamburg will find Son a willing signatory.
"I feel very comfortable here", Son told the Hamburger Morgenpost.
"There is currently no reason for me to think about a change."
Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen also confirmed the club’s desire to extend the forward’s deal.
"The topic should be closed before the end of the season", confirmed the Dane.
"When we have the winter break, we’ll start talks."
Son can also operate on the right wing as well as down the middle as a more traditional forward.
The 20-year-old has made six appearances in the Bundesliga this season, scoring three goals, despite Hamburg’s lacklustre opening to the campaign.
