France star Hugo Lloris has reaffirmed that he did not move to Tottenham Hotspur to sit on the bench, but explained he will respect manager Andre Villas-Boas’ decisions.
Lloris finds himself in a battle against veteran American shot-stopper Brad Friedel for the number 1 jersey at White Hart Lane, though received a boost recently by playing two games on the trot.

Villas-Boas was quick to suggest this does not mean the 25-year-old is number 1 though, something Lloris accepts, though he is also at pains to insist he has not arrived in London to warm the bench.
"I’ve only been at Spurs for a month. I came during the season, when the team was already formed", said the Frenchman.
"But I’ve only missed three games", he continued.
"It is clear that I have not signed for Tottenham to be on the bench.
"I’ve come to play, but I know there are no guarantees. The coach makes the choice."
Lloris can surely push his case to be Spurs’ regular between the sticks even more with a good performance for France in the current international break.
