Eden Hazard insists that while he was disappointed not to have started Belgium’s 2-0 win over Scotland, instead appearing from the bench, he respects coach Marc Wilmots’ decision and will not rock the boat.

The Chelsea forward was brought into the action at half-time, replacing Tottenham Hotspur star Moussa Demebele.

Despite being widely considered to be Belgium’s best player, Hazard was not sour at having been benched though and accepts that Wilmots has a vast array of attacking talent to choose from.

"I always have great desire", Hazard told Belgian broadcaster RTBF.

"I was disappointed not to start, but whenever I am on the pitch, I try to give my all.

"I tried to make a difference, and it worked, so it’s good, it’s good."

And Hazard understands the difficult decisions Wilmots has to make.

"We have very good players, especially in attack.

"The coach must make choices and now it is perfect because we win.

"Personally I prefer to play, just like everyone else, but if I have to start on the bench, I’ll start on the bench.

"Substitutes also contribute to victories."
