Juventus have received encouragement over a bid to sign Didier Drogba from Shanghai Shenhua, according to Italian daily Tuttosport.
Drogba, who ended an eight-year spell at Chelsea at the end of last season, is believed to be open to quitting the Blue Devil, despite having only been in China for less than six months.
relatedNewsStoryThe powerful Ivorian striker has long been wanted by Juventus and, following a reported meeting between an Italian agent and Drogba, is thought to have indicated he would consider joining the Bianconeri.
Despite a hugely lucrative contract with Shanghai Shenhua, Drogba is not believed to have been taken by life at the Chinese club and would be open to returning to Europe.
It is highly unlikely however that Juventus would be able to come close to matching the 34-year-old’s wages in China, meaning he would have to take a substantial drop in salary to move to Turin.
Drogba revealed recently that his children live in London, another factor which may weigh on his mind and push him to return to Europe.
Drogba has been in fine form for Shanghai Shenhua so far this season, scoring seven goals in ten Chinese Super League games.
He is under contract until December 2014 with the Blue Devil.
