Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he expects first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to return to action in two weeks.

The Poland international has been sidelined of late, which has handed promising Italian shot-stopper Vito Mannone a chance between the sticks – and he has impressed.

relatedNewsStoryIt remains to be seen whether Wenger will choose to stick with Mannone or instantly restore Szczesny to the starting line-up when he is fit, but the Frenchman will be glad of the selection dilemma.

"[Lukasz] Fabianski will have surgery and is out for three months", said Wenger at his press conference this morning, talking about the squad’s other goalkeeper.

"But Szczesny comes back in two weeks."

The Arsenal boss also rated another one of his returning stars, Jack Wilshere, as close to full fitness.

"He is 80 per cent match fit", said the Gunners boss, adding: "He needs one more game, maybe Monday night for the [Under-21s], then he will be back."

Arsenal face a trip to newly promoted Norwich City this weekend and will be looking to continue their impressive Premier League form.
