Manchester United had Mexican striker Javier Hernandez to thank as they came back from two goals behind against Portuguese side Braga in the Champions League.

Braga stunned the Red Devils by going ahead after just two minutes, when striker Alan nodded the ball into the back of the net.

And things would get worse for Sir Alex Ferguson’s team before they became better, when Alan scored his second of the night following an incisive attacking move from Braga in the 20th minute.

Manchester United were stunned, but Hernandez quickly gave the side a boost when he headed home a cross from Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa only five minutes later.

Nevertheless, the English giants went in at the break 2-1 behind and with work to do to get something out of the game.

And despite a half-time team-talk from Ferguson, Manchester United had to wait until the 62nd minute to level the match, when defender Jonny Evans scored from a corner.

And so, despite a terrible start to the match, Ferguson’s men managed to claim all three points.

Goalscoring hero Hernandez was brought off with ten minutes left, replaced by Ryan Giggs.
