Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta expects a new contract to be agreed with goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon soon, stressing the club icon "can say as long as he wants".

Buffon recently said he wished to stay with the Bianconeri for at least 15 years; he has currently clocked up 12 seasons at the Turin giants.

And Juventus are happy to oblige, with Marotta feeling a contract between player and club is now just a formality.

"The president has already clarified the situation, there is no problem in the negotiations between Buffon and Juventus", said Marotta.

"Buffon can stay as long as he wants.

"The contract should be a formality.

Despite being 34 years old, Buffon is still viewed as a crucial part of Juventus’ future.

The goalkeeper also has a burning desire he has not yet fulfiled with the Italian giants – and that is to win the Champions League, a piece of silverware which has eluded him so far.

Buffon continues to be rated as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, producing outstanding performances between the sticks.
