Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his side’s astonishing comeback against Reading in the League Cup on Tuesday has shown them the way for their next two crucial games.

The Gunners were 4-0 down against Reading at one point but, in a remarkable display of attacking football, fought back to eventually triumph 7-5 in extra time, leaving the Frenchman not quite believing what he had just witnessed.

Now Wenger wants to harness that never-say-die spirit for his team’s next two matches, starting against Manchester United at Old Trafford at the weekend.

Following defeat to Chelsea earlier this season, the clash against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men promises to reveal a lot about the nature of Arsenal’s title hopes.

And Wenger needs his men to stand up and be counted, while never giving up, just as happened at Reading.

"We can be inspired by this", the Frenchman said of the League Cup win, to his club’s official site.

relatedNewsStory"We need that spirit, that never-give-up attitude for the next two games", he added.

After the Manchester United match on Saturday, Arsenal are in Champions League action with a vital trip to Germany to face Schalke on Tuesday.

The Ruhr giants leapfrogged Arsenal for the leadership of Group B with a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on 24th October and the Gunners will hope to return the favour next week.
