Juventus are poised to make a move for Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko in the January transfer window, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Serie A champions are keen to jump ahead of Sissoko’s other suitors and are well aware that the defensive midfielder is a wanted man, something which has only been exacerbated by the fact that his current contract at Toulouse expires next summer.

English Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been noted as tracking the 23-year-old closely, while Lyon and Lille would dearly love to keep Sissoko in Ligue 1.

However, Juventus hope that by offering Toulouse a generous fee in January, in the process helping Les Pitchouns to realise some value from a player who could walk away for nothing in the summer, they can jump to the front of the queue for the France international.

Bianconeri director general Giuseppe Marotta is reported to have made Sissoko a transfer priority and planning for a January assault is well under way.

Toulouse look unlikely to be able to persuade Sissoko to renew his contract.

A product of the club’s youth set-up, Sissoko has spent five years in Toulouse’s first team.

Juventus are likely to face a challenge to sign Sissoko, with the defensive midfielder highly rated.

However, a lightening raid by the Bianconeri could see the 23-year-old in Turin before Juventus’ rivals have had time to react.
