France coach Didier Deschamps is hoping to see Yoann Gourcuff produce his form for Lyon at international level.
Deschamps has called Gourcuff up for his side’s friendly against Italy tomorrow evening and it represents a good opportunity for the 26-year-old to impress.
"I expect him to do what I see with Lyon", explained Deschamps at a press conference.
"I wanted to include him in the squad to get a good look at him.
"On the pitch, in the dynamic of the squad, he must be natural, as he is with his club."
Gourcuff has seen his career tail off over the last two years, with injuries and poor form dogging him.
At international level, he has won 29 caps for France and scored four goals.
relatedNewsStoryGourcuff’s last cap for France came in May, when former coach Laurent Blanc included him against Iceland.
This season he has made four appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon, scoring once and providing one assist.
Gourcuff is under contract at the Stade Gerland until 2014.
