Former Italy coach Roberto Donadoni believes Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has what it takes to become the best player in the world – if he changes his character.
Balotelli has seen controversy dog him throughout his short career so far, with the limelight never far away, either on the pitch or off it.
During his stint at the Etihad Stadium, his Manchester City career has been in question several times, with manager Roberto Mancini openly criticising the forward.
Nevertheless, he remains a popular figure amongst the Citizens faithful and shone at Euro 2012, helping Italy reach the final of the tournament.
In Donadoni’s opinion, the striker has it all, except the right attitude.
"Balotelli is a tremendously talented player", said the current Parma coach to Sky Sport Italia.
"But his character gets in the way. He will have to change."
relatedNewsStoryDo that though and Donadoni, who coached Italy between 2006 and 2008, believes there is no heights Balotelli cannot reach.
"If he succeeds, I think he has what it takes to be the best player in the world."
Balotelli is fast developing into Italy’s striking talisman and he is consistently linked with a return to Serie A.
The 22-year-old, who has earned the nickname "Super Mario", left Italian side Inter to sign for Manchester City in 2010.
He helped the Citizens to win the Premier League title last season.
