Bundesliga outfit Hannover have confirmed the arrival of defender Johan Djourou from Arsenal and proclaimed the Switzerland international as being someone who is sure to be a success at their club.

Djourou has signed on loan until the end of the season and has landed in Germany in search of regular first team football.

At Arsenal the defender had not made a single appearance in the Premier League this season and had slipped firmly out of manager Arsene Wenger’s first team plans.

Now he will aim to show what he can do in the Bundesliga given a regular run of games.

And Hannover could not be happier to have snapped him up.

"Johan Djourou is a professional with international experience who can help us reach our goals", explained Hannover technical director Jorg Schmadtke to his club’s official site.

"He fits with what we are looking for because he is also eligible to play for us in the UEFA Europa League."

Djourou is also a player who has impressed Hannover coach Mirko Slomka, who was beaming at the capture and is confident of the 25-year-old’s success.

"He’s physically strong, tactically astute and is willing to give everything", announced the coach.

"Those are the reasons he will be a success for us."

Djourou progressed through the Arsenal youth ranks after arriving at the club in 2003.

At international level he has won 38 caps for Switzerland.
