Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy believes that countryman Alexander Buttner has made good progress at Old Trafford and has shown he is one to watch.

Red Devils’ boss Sir Alex Ferguson swooped to sign Buttner from Dutch side Vitesse during the summer, with the eventual aim of the young left-back succeeding Patrice Evra.

Ferguson has already stated how happy he is with the defender’s progress so far and now Van Nistelrooy has echoed those words, even picking Buttner as one to watch out for in the future.

"Alexander has made a great start", Van Nistelrooy told Manchester United’s official site.
